And you thought I’d abandon my daughters for Drossel?
They were just having a picnic while Drossel had her pictures taken
Big open fields like these are perfect for picnics.
And if you are wondering why Rin is so happy
and why Kagamin is in awe,
It’s because I choose them for the sunset shot. They look the best for it, not even Drossel can beat them in this aspect.
(note the pastsu shot of Rin)
Background looks photoshoped, aye?
A behind the scene shot.
*****
I guess the recent acquisition of Drossel had opened up new photographing possibilities and I must admit, I am equally as impressed and addicted with Drossel’s ability to pose and blend into the surroundings so effortlessly. Perhaps I’ve worked too much with the constraints of Nendoroids that the lure of such a flexible and posable figure was too overwhelming.Nowadays, instead of picturing my little Nendos against the scenery when I travel from one place to another. I find myself placing an imaginary Drossel instead.
However, I’ve come to realise that Drossel and Nendos bring out different kinds of pictures. Take for example, I never go “awwwwwww” at any of my Drossel pictures, whist I happened to be retardedly making that sound when I see my Nendo pictures. Drossel also don’t seem to work well with other figures (but maybe that will change if I’d had another figma?). Notice how Drossel looks so good when she is the one and only subject of the picture, while Nendos look better when there are more.
I guess these distinct, yet subtle differences will separate my Drossel (figmas) and Nendo, and why I love them. They both cannot replace each other and my Nendos will never, never be neglected. So if you are wondering if kodomut.wordpress.com will ever be “A Daily Slice of Figma Love”? I’ll tell you now, definitely not in the near future! ^^

< ![CDATA[Nice photo shoot! the one where they were facing the sun was an excellent shot, very well done ^^
And as for the talky after the pics, I agree as well, Figma Drossel creates interesting shots with a variety of poses while the Nendoroids just look cute all together but look the same in most shots. One Figma can never overpower your Nend. collection but both bring exciting and fresh ideas ^^ Maybe it should be "A Daily Slice of FigmaxNendo Love" ^^(probably too long-_-)]]>
< ![CDATA[awww i want to picnic with them too...
I noticed the difference for drossel and nendos too. drossel is slightly more active, sentimental while nendos are cute, adorable, always fun to look at. i'm exploring how to create a story / concept with revoltech figures (you know... those mecha have the same expression, need to study how to make them "fun").
maybe u should get 2-3 figma too. then drossel wont be lonely :3]]>
< ![CDATA[i have 2 figma daughters. if u wan, they can hang out with ur drossel.. and throw in some mecha from here and there.. wouldn't it be more fun. =P]]>
< ![CDATA[Like Gekka, I think drossel can fit in a lot of situations due to her non expressive face.
I think it will be harder to fit expressions for other figmas.
Hei, Ion Orchard is open! want to go on Thurs? =P]]>
< ![CDATA[hm.. that's tough, I have lessons till 5 for tmr. Will update u if I can make it on Friday! ^^;]]>
< ![CDATA[Drossel is actually making me interested in a Figma for the first time, despite my intense dislike for posable figures and Nendos. It looks...futuristic enough.]]>
< ![CDATA[Poor Maritan didn't get a sunset shot =P]]>
< ![CDATA[Nice shoots there.
Of course you can change the figma how you want.
It have many movable parts. Not like the Nendo.
But Nendo have the Kawaii effect and the figmas the
Action effect.]]>
< ![CDATA[LOL! I liked the first picture a lot!]]>
< ![CDATA[nendos grouped together cause a reaction of explosive cuteness, while figmas are more regular proportion so they give a cool effect. different effect but both awesome!
beautiful location for shooting u found ^^]]>
< ![CDATA[Kyaaa~ Kagami is so so so kawaii in the forth photo.
Glad that you didn't neglect your nendo nusume.]]>
< ![CDATA[So beautiful picture ! COngratulation ^^]]>
< ![CDATA[Aww~ they're having a picnic on a sushi mat X3
Your daughters are lucky to have huge fields of grass to have a picnic on~!]]>
< ![CDATA[I guess the difference is because Drossel have that high class image while you put your Nendoroids in a more fun-loving way. Bringing in more Figma is okay but your time spent outdoors posing these figures is going to take more time. XD]]>
< ![CDATA[No problem bro, anytime when you plan to explore Singapore when you are bored just drop a tweet, my activation time is RSAF RP trained!]]>
< ![CDATA[“Daily Slice of Figroids” ?
or maybe figures? ^^]]>
< ![CDATA[“maybe u should get 2-3 figma too. then drossel wont be lonely :3
On their way!
And as for exploring how to create stories, I realised when I was working with Nendos, all I needed was facial expressions to bring out the scenes, while for Drossel, despite her singular expression/face, her body language does all the talking.
Different ways to convey the message indeed. All you need is more practice and keep trying new poses ^^]]>
< ![CDATA[I have tuition in the late afternoon and storytelling in the evening on Thursday. I am free until evening tomorrow, on Wednesday, though! Free until late afternoon on Friday! ]]>
< ![CDATA[Was a former Nendoroid and Figma hater too. Could not understand the hype over things that had movable joints.
But I guess it was the interest in photography that let me to think otherwise. As I said before "Don't judge a Figma by it's joints". Pick up one and you never know what you might feel ^^
(if you don't like you can always donate to Yuki-to or myself =3)]]>
< ![CDATA[oh, I totally agree with kodomut :3]]>
< ![CDATA[She was out of place, got moved into this week's "A week in the life of Figures" post instead.
And Maritan can't sit properly!]]>
< ![CDATA[Yah exactly they are made for different purposes.
Rin x Kagamiku x sunset = awesome]]>
< ![CDATA[Kagami is kawaii in every picture. She's a sweetie pie]]>
< ![CDATA[Sign up for Nendos picnics now~!]]>
< ![CDATA[There's actually lots of construction work going on at the right ^^
Don't know what they are digging/building though !]]>
