Yoshika’s stand upgrade

Recently I’ve acquired my 9th Nendoroid, Miyafuji from pantsu witches. She comes with a remarkably awesome stand which is very different from the Nendoroid stands provided by GSC. It has very good “catch” zones for Yoshika to fit snugly into any of the 3 stand which enable her to do 3 different poses.

She can only fly on her belly

However I felt that the provided stand was a little too restrictive on her flying pose as it only enabled her to only “fly” on her belly and she couldn’t lean back and do a “backstroke” flight mode. Frustrated with the limitations, I decided to put some DIY skills into use.

Stand Upgrade

A couple of you would have known that I sawed off Drossel’s figma stand connector a couple of days back to make her mobile battery pack. Not wanting to waste the rest of the stand, I decided that it would be the perfect stand with is movable joints and such.

Stand Upgrade

The connecting joint was long gone after being sawed away. Had to file it smooth and flat since we will be connecting a new joint into it.

After filing, I took the joint from Rin’s stand. I’ve never used Rin’s stand since I never saw the need too do so. Guess it pays to have spare parts lying around the place for DIY upgrading projects such as this! The connecting part had to be filed too since it was a little curved.

Stand Upgrade

As mentioned before, I possess this remarkably super superglue. Gluing the 2 parts together, we have a new joint system!

Stand Upgrade

Yoshika is definitely loving her new stand and Rin’s probably pretty pleased with her helping efforts since half the time she gets someone injured usually.

Stand Upgrade

As you can see, the newly upgraded stand is pretty strong and flexible too! 2 flying kitties is just awesome!

Of course this wasn’t the end of my upgrading process. I really felt that the figma stand base with the huge figma words looked pretty weird with Yoshika who was a pretty little adorable nendoroid that I figured that I should use the movable joints with the original base.

The original base had a larger connecting hole than the figma base so I had to saw it off and attach the standard nendoroid connector to it.

After some sawing and filing process, we have a new base connector that fits nicely! Now the stand looks decent!

And Yoshika manages to do a “backstroke” at the end of the day!

Now that her stand is completed, I’ll probably do a photoshoot for her sometime later in the upcoming week. She’s such a pretty little pantsu flyer! (^ω^)

  7. < ![CDATA[Great idea. I only use my spare figma stand for her.

I really don't mind how the stand looks so it doesn't seem awkward for me. xD I like it flat & unnoticeable.[:]]>

  8. < ![CDATA[This is cool.

I wish GSC's nendoroid stands were actually good at catching the figures, and allowing you maneuverability, and again, catching the figure, to ease replicating the official shots, for one, without pinning the bloody figures.]]>

  9. < ![CDATA[That´s really cool. I´m going to do that with mine. How is the cat (kyouka)dealing with the new dog (yoshika), isn´t she mad?'¿]]>

  11. < ![CDATA[Yoshika should have been released with a stand like this! Hopefully no Strike Witches Nendoroids in the near future, I've no more spare figma stands since Reika needs hers ^^]]>

  12. < ![CDATA[Very cute, great job with it!
I'd be far too afraid to do anything like that with my figures or their bases. I was scared enough to have to glue Drossel's earpiece back together... I'd probably have a heart attack if I'd attempt anything like you've done. xD]]>
