Last weekend the Nendoroid and figma collectors met up at Chinese Garden for a monthly meet up.
The reason of the meet-up was to celebrate the upcoming mid-Autumn festival
The mid-autumn festival is marked by colored lanterns.
Naturally, being a Chinese festival, the prime location for this meet up would be the Chinese Gardens. The place was filled with traditional Chinese architecture.
Tranquil lakes and a tower in the middle of nowhere. Totally Chinese.
Not to mention pseudo terracotta warriors.
No guesses what they love to grab.
Traditionally lanterns are lit up via candles. But due to fire hazards and other issues, they are electronically lit like the bulbs on Christmas trees.
Haruhi looking good with the lake in the background.
Sweet little Yutaka is the poster girl for the day.
Looking good in every angle.
She loves the lanterns apparently!
Off she goes to play!
Our meeting time was during sunset, hence the amount of time before the sun went down was pretty little.
Nonetheless, I brought my own candle-lit paper lanterns.
I used to carry electronic ones even when I was a kid. The paper one combust easily if you don’t place your candle properly. They look lovelier though.
Drossel does some reading by the candle light.
It’s chilly tonight. The little bokeh in the background are the lanterns across the lake!
Yuhiko mesmerised!
My 2 faves in one picture. The bigger one is Umeko, the smaller white one is Drossel. Which do you prefer more?
Yayoi stand on one electronic lantern. I used to carry this when I was a kid. Wonder if it still works.
Saber with her Chinese dress thing. Daughter of Arayden of Banzai Effect. You can find more of her pics at the other blog entries of the people who went. Links to the blogs @ this figure.fm entry.
If you are interested in more meet-ups like this and would love to attend, please feel free to contact Dcal-san or me to add yourself to the mailing list. Currently there are a bunch of figma and Nendoroid collectors who are on it and we try to meet up on a monthly basis.
Even if you don’t have the slightest bit interest in figmas and Nendoroids feel free to come down. The others are avid anime otakus too and I’m sure everyone will get along just fine!

Gah! Would love to attend these meet ups…now I just need to find a way to teleport from Sydney to Singapore >_>
By the way, the Shana grab picture was hilarious XD
wow, especially the Yutaka pics are great. You have way too much beautiful scenery over there^^
I’m not into Dollfies but Saber X Chinese dress is very tempting. <3
Really amased at how you made the dragonboat shot look like it was took during daytime when it was actually nighttime.
I’m more amazed with the scenery shots than the figures shots. Really pretty pictures.
Damn I really need to renew my passport so I can join you guys for the meet ups.
Drossel for sure!
You really have an eye for photography. I really love all the pictures with the wide aperture and lights, they really turned out well.
er, I didn’t think blockquotes would be so large, will refrain from using them in the future.
lol, tat was quite a surprise ^^;
mooncake festival + nendroid = awesome combination ^^
i like them both. want to get the nendroid drossel now.
Umeko :3 Awesome pictures btw!
very nice pics! Hm.. wondering if I can achieve such nice bokeh with the LX3!
Candle-lit reading is bad for the eyes! Drossel should switch on her lights!
I love the first pic! ^^
Saber in chinese dress is kawaii!
really cool pics. How do you do to make your figures stand without the base? (for the 9 and 12 pics)
Figmas can balance quite well without the bases, especially on rocks.
I was worried for a bit that Drossel would experience the “display base effect” being so close to that tea light candle. Those things can get really hot!
really love your shots of Yutaka, and the lanterns provided such lovely colors.
Wow, monthly meet-ups seem pretty cool.
Man, how many park/recreational places do you guys have over there? =/
Quite a fair bit, but it’s not really frequented by the locals.
I love all the candlelight Drossel pictures~ they’re wonderful.
I want that Saber. *.*
All the figure collector meetups sound like they’re a lot of fun. x3 Wish there were more people around my area that collected figures. I haven’t even found one other figure collector other than a friend of mine (who displays them and then leaves them to set in the dust ;_; ), and my boyfriend (of whom I’ve bought more figures for than he’s bought for himself… ). Ah well, maybe someday. ~
