It’s been a long long time since I’ve did a full clean on my nendoroids and figmas. I clean the scaled ones occasionally but after aggressive expansion of my collection of nendoroids and figmas, I’ve neglected the upkeep of most of my nendoroids.
I wash all my stuff by soaking them in mild soap solution for a few minutes and then letting them dry in the open, but not under the sun of course. My nendoroids and figmas go through a lot of beating out in the wild and in their travels outdoors. I used to clean them religiously after every outing last time, but I got tired since they go out almost everyday.
There are a ton of parts which includes limbs and accessories that comes with nendoroids. Having a proper storage helps in grabbing the desired pile for photoshoots. I share all hands with all nendoroids, so only the sleeves are separated. I have a few containers but I find this medicine box the perfect one for nendoroid parts. That being said, there are some stuff which can’t fit inside such as swords and long accessories; other than that, it does it’s job perfectly.
puchi Kyouka is probably up there in the damage list with Drossel. She’s been out too much and she’s very dirty. Most tough stains cannot be removed by just soaking the figure in soap solution. For the tough ones, get a stronger soap solution and take a cotton bud and rub gently against the stained patch.
There’s a ton of nendoroid parts.
Just look at the pile of hands. This is probably 25% of the hands that I have.
Laying them out to dry on the washing machine.
New figure within. Try and spot in.
Beside washing the parts, it’s best to wash the containers occasionally. The dirt, dust and dead insects that find their way in just makes the parts dirtier at the end of the day. As you can see, I have lots of containers. Too many nendoroids =\
This is the table where I do most of my photography and nendo stories. Nendoroids easily accessed on the shelf on the left. Trying to put back the nendoroids after drying them. Always mix the stands up. And yes, my table is always this messy, reason is that this G5 isn’t used much. The screen is only used when I’m marathoning movies or anime, so it’s pretty much an unused table.
Fixing up the nendoroids after washing is the easy part, putting the little parts back is quite a task.
Thankfully I know almost every part by hard since I play around with the limbs and such almost everyday, so I know what belongs to who. This bear Minami is holding is from the guestroom set. It actually comes from a certain anime, 10 points to who can guess where it actually from. I’ll mail you a TFS:Singapore postcard if you don’t have it yet!
Long accessories such as swords, guns, brooms and leeks go into another container which is pretty much an accessory container.
Accessories can be shared with just almost any nendoroid as seen from megane Saber. I bring the accessory box for outdoor shoots. I realized today that I actually have 5 leeks.
Most of the commonly used heads go into this box. There isn’t anymore space ever since the new arrivals. It’s not a Daiso box but an electronics box which my mum brought home a long time ago when she used to be in the engineering dept. Rarely used faces get stored elsewhere. Arawn seems happy to be resting against Minami’s DFC.
Aside from cleaning, I spent the other half of the day trying to fix some broken parts. Recently my lovely Misao’s head decided to detach itself from the body, Comrade Alafista also passed me his broken-right-arm Kagami. Figma joints are much harder to fix than nendoroids, especially the ball joints.
Lots of my stuff break, an unbelievable amount actually, but almost all can be fixed with superglue and some filing. It all started with Drossel already broken right out of the box a long time ago, which made be go and buy superglue from the local DIY store. If you ever need superglue, I recommend this one. Shellys.
Anyway I couldn’t pry out Konata’s broken ball joint. I did not want to drill it out, Drilling is recommended for nendoroids though, I could talk more about that another time if you are interested, I’ve drilled my favorite sleeping Kureha face because the broken joint was stuck inside.
Had great success prying out my Misao’s neck joint though.
Anyway at the end of the day, Konata is fixed. Well not really. But looks good right?
Yeah, that because I’ve decided to pass comrade Alafista my Konata body since I don’t use it much. In fact, I don’t think I use it at all. The formerly broken body is now residing on my cute little Yutaka. The right arm is glued to the body, do it’s mobile no more, but I don’t really bother, have 3 other winter lucky star bodies and I only bring Misao around.
Misao with her ex-neck joint.
My work table after the fixes. Thankfully I don’t study on it since it’s in a mess half the time. I use the Hobbysearch paper so that the super glue doesn’t fall on my table. I love the Hobbysearch packaging paper, many uses for it!
Here’s my operation kit. Shark eating neko not included.
Still no idea what to do with Soniko ever since her head dropped out of the window and was uncoverable. Boxed her up already. Her cake and slippers still have much used though.
A little too big for Rin and her nendoroid sisters but we’ll think of something.
The top of my rack of nendoroids and figmas. The higher the figure is placed, the more unlikely it will be used for photoshoots or stories. That’s Drossel 2 up there. Tsukasa is actually up there with Yutaka but she apparently fell down or something.
Such a neat table. Wonder how long it will last.
And before I end this post. Here’s something cool. I always had figma Reika and I think that she’s awesome. Yesterday after the travelogue, I went around with comrade Alafista for some window shopping but ended up buying quite a few stuffs. This Arcee included. It was originally intended for my Drossel X kagamiku but upon reaching home, I think it’s perfect for Reika. More shots in the future!

Is that bear from Azumanga Daioh? Least that’s the first I thought of, remembering that episode where Nyamo got that gift when Yukari was visiting and she was pissed it wasn’t food.
Though I doubt it, don’t think it had a fish in its mouth.
Here’s a clue, I own the figure of the anime where the bear was in.
Drat, then I don’t think I’ll get it, I might know the names of the series the figures are from, but I know I haven’t seen enough of the various series to guess the right one. >.<
Still, aside from the guessing game, really informative there.
wow XD this is really helpful ^w^ !! thanks kodomut ^^ Now I could freely go out with Miku,Mio and Reimu nendo without much worries XD
(btw, want to exhange banners XD?)
Haha, enjoy going out. But remember that cleaning remove dirt only, noy dents and scratches!
Including Chocolate Fudge?
:3c ?
Tongue is used for that one.
(I’m going to remove the blogroll in the near near future)
Ooo… I like the shelf you use to put your Nendos.
Mum scavenged it from company. They were going to throw it away. She’s your modern day karang guni.
lol.. ur shelf no cover? not afraid of dust?
so neat… I’m ashamed my room is in a far worse condition than yours! Ha.
too many nen faces in box, I can’t recognise all of them! I fail T_T
Only the table is neat, everywhere else is still messy. Give me your nen faces.
Somehow, i can’t stop giggling at the sight of the toilet paper roll ( more so if it is a box of tissues :3c )
Boxed tissues are too expensive. Toilet rolls more absorbent and cheap.
I might have to try out that Selly’s. My figmas are prone to breakages. Still trying to discover the ultimate repair glue! ^^
By the way, how often to you clean the figures you don’t play with and keep on display most of the time?
twice per month
LOL Wrinkled Fingers .
After reading your Post , It got me thinking about cleaning my Nendo and figma . I haven’t cleaned them ever since I bought them ^^;; .
What soup solution did you use to clean your Nendos ??
No problems with my Nendo and Figma ( probably because I never play with them ^^;; )
Poor Soniko still headless , Ne-kid Apron is my most fave fetish ^^
Try the weaker types of dishwashing liquid. I have 2 types, the stronger ones are for sturbonnnnn stains.
ups. you just reminded me that I need to wash Danbo…
Can always send it to me for washing.
your finger is all soaked lol
Yes, all squishy and bouncy.
like raisins.
psyco maniac >_< full mutilate body there
woah ur table is way neater than mine. Mine is like a war zone.
Got more than 1 table here.
Means more than 1 battlefield
Intense washing!
Did you draw the Mugi in http://www.flickr.com/photos/kodomut/4142669587/ ?
Love the containers you use to store different types of parts, would have to get bigger stuff like that when my table gets overcrowded.
(° -°)
Yes
yes reika is awesome! :3
Hmm… Junjou Romantica has bear-catching-fish statues… doubt that’s it though.
Poor Soniko… headless figure, that sucks. XD
I took pictures a while back of how I clean my Nendos but I don’t think I ever posted them, I need to make a cleaning post too. I used my bathtub last time but that’s way too big considering the small amount of nendos I have XD
The bear is from Junjou Romantica!!!
The fixing surely requires a lot of presicion.–
More patience than precision.
I still haven’t gotten my 10 points in getting the Tree top walk correct.
Getting the ball joint out has always been hard. That’s why the joint comes out in ashes when I finish getting it out in my last 3 broken figmas.
Dude, you reminded me of my dad going for deep sea fishing. I rarely bring my figures out due to the fact I’ll get it spoil and dirty. I’m on strict budget so if 1 breaks or get lost it’s like I just lost my gf
