Yucky Treats

As some of you may know, recently a good friend of mine dropped his cataract diseased guinea pig, which I’ve nicknamed OINK, at my place since he was going back to Indonesia to spend some quality time falling sick at that place with his family.

I’ve always wondered why guinea pigs had a pig in their name since they certainly don’t look piggish and are pretty cute.

After spending 2 weeks observing, feeding and attempting to commune with it with grunts and cat-like noises, I’ve come to a conclusion that the pig part of their name comes from the ridiculous amount of filth they they create.

See these yummy looking fungi?

There were growing out of the fertile spot where OINK always shits and pees.
(not to mention he has a tendency of spelling his own pee and then having his nostrils filled with them, so he ends up sneezing)

This is his treat bowl. Terrible. Was much terrible, this is it half cleaned. It was originally so disgusting and yucky. I have a pretty high tolerance of all things yucky and filthy but this was pretty bad. When cleaning takes priority over picture taking, it’s pretty bad.

So anyway I enlisted the help of the Kagami cleaning services to do a 180º make over for OINK’s treat bowl

The bowl actually looks cute now.

Word of advice, don’t rear guinea pigs unless you want to cultivate some exotic fungi.

actually you can cultivate the “Mushroom” there.. You know “Mushroom” is quite expensive in Indonesia, so maybe you can harvest it and give it to your friend.. hehehe..

I thought the “pig” name come because, it doesn’t choose it’s food?

on the other hand, if you want to have an exotic fungi pet, you can easily get it by having a guinea pig.
