This is a long post, very image intensive, probably will crash your iphone, com, and what not if you are already short on memory.
Features all the wildlife that I came across and managed to take with my camera. Most of them were cats and dogs from all over the island, some strays, some domesticated, some really angsty and will blare their teeth are you if you go too near.
Sometimes there were chickens just running around the houses and hills. They were hard to get close to, very jumpy creatures. Guess they know that they will get eaten soon.
Some pictures are very sad looking animals, so please don’t be alarmed!
An lobster from a fishing platform called a kelong. But it would taste very very yummy.
Aside from lobsters at the kelong. you can catch fishes with fish hooks and baits from the surrounding water. I did not manage to catch this kind of fish (which I forgot what’s it called) but I caught a useless pufferfish. No pics for that because I ate some mosquito repellant after I pulled it out of the water and thus had to gargle my mouth. Don’t ask me how I ate the mosquito repellant – long story.
Very common sight to find the chicks walking around with mummy. They are really really cute and cuddly, love the way they walk. They make lots of noise though.
The pigs were terribly smelly. I think if I stayed in the barn a few seconds more, I would have died of suffocation. The pigs were crazy. When I stepped into the barn, they probably thought I was carrying food, or I was food, and they charged towards the corner of the pent where I was standing and started making piggy noises.
This is the joker cat a.k.a Why So Serious? Missing one tooth but very violent. Saw him fight over a piece of fish with another bigger sized kitty.
These are the Shrek cats. Why? Because they look at you with the Puss in boots face and you just want to feed them.
This monkey was crazy too. Tried to claw my toes when I wasn’t looking. He’s eating durian by the way.
Poor kitty ):
That’s it for the animals and wildlife, food coming up soon. Love the new lens I bought before I headed out for this trip. Simply awesome!

Nice photos. I think I should get out more and take more photos for practice.
Btw, what is the new lens that you are using?
Using a Tamron 17-50mm VR w/ a Nikon D90
With a constant f2.8? if that is so, it will be epic.
epic it is
glad you like that lens.
Best buy for the year!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SO CUTE! love them animals! Nice photos as usual!
Yeah, the doggies were really adorable
Kinda glad that you like indonesia
you really took very good photos. My hometown is kinda same but I don’t really interested to capture it. And you make me feels different now. Nice job
Haha, thanks, I guess it’s all an outsider’s perspective. I bet you a foreigner would find the things which I find mundane in Singapore pretty interesting. Would love to go back Indo once again for another trip like this!
Hahaha I think so too
the photos are alive!
even though I’m in Indonesia, I haven’t seen Tanjung Balai though.
That impossible to see these poor animals in the in europe, in particular in france. I’m so disapointed when I see these poor animals were just skin and bones.
