Mikuni Shinokawa

Recently I had the opportunity to be invited by ANIMAX to be dazzled by the gorgeous Mikuni Shinokawa’s tunes. She came over to Singapore to hold a concert for her fans here.

Her performance rivaled the energy levels of her fans.

Incase you are wondering who she is, here’s a short excerpt from wikipedia.

Mikuni Shimokawa (下川 みくに Shimokawa Mikuni?) (born 19 March 1980 in Shizunai, Hokkaido, Japan) is a J-pop singer and songwriter. She is best known for her songs used for anime theme music, particularly the opening and ending themes of the Full Metal Panic! series. In addition to her vocal talents, Shimokawa can also play the piano. She is a former member of the girl group Checkicco.

For the more musically acquainted, she sang, from the FMP! series, Tomorrow and Sore Ga Ai Deshou and many others; Alone, from the Gensomaden Sayuki Anime; and Kimi Ga Iru Kara – 4th ending theme from Fairy Tail.

I’m not a die hard fan of Mikuni Shinokawa but I know how to appreciate music! Loved her encore performance of 残酷な天使のテーゼ (Cruel Angel Thesis) and her ねずみは米がすき songs.

Apparently she’s here to promote Fairytail which will be broadcasted by ANIMAX Asia at the end of the next month, every weekday at 9.30pm.

For those who remember and are fans of the anime, RAVE MASTER, you’ll love Fairy Tail. I remembered a few years back when I was still in secondary school, RAVE was one of my favourite series. It’s by the same manga artist, Hiro Mashima, so the plot and art styles are similar. But the most fun part of the series is the subtle resemblance to one of my most favourite games, Monster Hunter.

There’s a character called Erza who can swap her weapons at will and the first thought that came into my mind when I saw the design of the armors was “Monster Hunter” (not to mention Erza is a hottie). And then there’s this talking blue cat that reminds me of the Felyne companion. Simply Awesome!
