As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I wanted to show you all a card I made for one of my regulars at my storytelling sessions. Along the way, I shall talk about my experience with the kids at the library.
2 years ago, I did weird things out of boredom. I picked up a camera, I took started volunteering with the library and I started collecting figures. It’s probably a turning point in life because that’s when everything started to get busy and really interesting. I don’t take as much photos of figures as I do anymore (that’s a matter of discussion for another day.), but my work in the library has tripled.
Today is Childrens’ Day. I stopped celebrating it a decade ago, but for those who know me personally, I’m really quirky and I’m a have child like compulsions. I don’t know when I started taking a liking to children, but I’m really fascinated by them. Children, unlike adults have this unchecked imagination and talking with them is where most of my inspiration in the blog actually comes from.
Every school holidays there are craft programmes at the library and I’ll always be there to guide the children. That’s the nicer way of putting it, but I’m actually more interested in seeing how they work, talk to them while they do their craft and figure out their train of thought. But most importantly, seeing the kids happy is probably one of the most fulfilling things that money can’t buy.
There are a few things that make me really happy. The results of awesome photoshoots, chocolates and seeing kids smile ![]()
Going the extra mile to see them smile is what I strive to do during my storytelling sessions every week, which I why I always tell funny stories.
Occasionally when I talk to the parents of the kids, one of the most common questions are:
1) How old I am
2) Why do I do storytelling for kids.
You have to understand that I don’t look like the regular 22 year old with my short stature. Anyway, obviously it may seem, it’s actually quite hard to convey a simple concept of loving kids’ laughter to parents. I normally just tell them, I used to enjoy storytelling sessions in the library myself when I was a little kid.
Going that extra mile for that smile is simply just worth it and it makes me super duper happy myself!
Have you found that thing that makes you happy too!

$$$$$ brings me happiness. And taking photographs with you is priceless XD
I lost 25% of my happiness when they removed the spicy nuggets
