Laksa V2

Laksa V2

I think one year ago, I bought Laksa from my favourite store near the library and took pictures of nendoroids with it.

In any case, for the uninitiated, Laksa is basically noodles, typically beehoon, served with a different kind of curry base. It’s one of those things you have to put into your mouth when you come to Singapore.

It’s pretty hard to describe so I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Actually it’s pretty hard to let the pictures do the talking. The whole thing looks like something aliens eat or something. See the big red patch, that’s chili. I like chili so I usually dunk a sizable chunk in. Totally optional for those whose mouth ‘catch fire’ easily.

This is called the ‘tau pok’. My culinary vocabulary is pretty limited and terrible so I’ve no idea what’s it made up off. Basically it’s like a sponge, soaking up the soup base and then when you bite and chew it, it unleashes it like an elephant sitting on a wet sponge and the soup will ooze out and flood your mouth.

Included within are bean sprouts, eggs, fish cake, crab sticks and cockels.

Here’s the curry base incase you were wondering where it went.

Yes, eating Laksa makes one happy.

Remember to try it if you ever stop by in Singapore. For friends overseas like Dans and Shazz, remind me to bring you guys to try this the next time you come over. This takes precedence over Prata!

Tau pok = fried tofu skin. Agetofu is also made out of tau pok but cooked in a different way. :)

Not a fan of hot stuff but laksa is weird without it, though I know of people who prefer sweet soup base
