This doesnt work

Recently most of my older nendoroids seem to love to have their joints breaking. The latest in this epidemic is our dear vocaloid. Being lazy and stuff, I decided to not use the usual way of getting joints out and opted to try out a new way which I thought might work – screwing a sized 1 drill bit manually into the joint and pulling it out.

Drossel, twists; Drossel turns!

It’s actually quite hard to twist the drill bit in. I didn’t have the handle extension, couldn’t find it.

Unfortunately this method sucks beyond words and it just is a waste of time and energy. For those without the awesome powers of the drill, what do you do with stuck joints?
Would really love to know!

    hi, for the broken figma, nendos maybe u can try to use the super glue from Alteco(stationery shops, Ntuc maybe?). Put a bit of the glue on the broken part and the part thats stuck inside with the small glue tube they provide, then u wait.

    u may be able to remove the part afterwards, i haven’t tried removing the Fate’s ponytail yet(figma 056,bought at AFA)

    Unfortunately, I went through the same process of removing joints described above. My Figma Drossel arm joint decides to break on last year’s Christmas Day! I left it for a long time before mustering the courage to drill the joint and pry it out. I tried superglue but it broke again. So I decided to drill on both ends of the broken joint, then using a soft wire usually found wrapping figures in boxes, I superglued the wire in both joints. Hand drilling hurts a lot!

      I don’t think superglue works well with wires. I could be wrong though, but my all my 3 kinds of superglue cannot work on metal.

        Oh, the wire was wrapped around in a thin layer of plastic.

      Never take out your figures and store them in a cool dry place and this will never happen

    Have you tried splashing warm water to loosen up the joint then proceed to take it out?

      Warm water loosens the joint?? This a fact? I have no more joints to take out so I cannot test.

    My slightly destructive method involves heating a safety pin, stabbing stuck piece slowly, wait about 15-30 sec for the pin/material to cool, and pull out… Although I’ve never had to do this for my own pieces thankfully…

    I’ve never had a nendoroid joint break- not once!

    But then again, all 34 of my nendos are still in their boxes ^^;
    Nice photographs as always (:
