STGCC 2011

STGCC was held over the weekend in Singapore at Suntec Convention Hall.

I went down there to meet up with a couple of comrades to bask in the excitement of the event and to see some international famous stars of the industry.

Although it was held for 2 days, Saturday and Sunday I only went into the exhibition area on the second day. Opting to stay outside the exhibition area during the 1st day.

I originally intended to go in early with my blogger pass on the second day to get some clear shots of the area but unfortunately the fatigue levels accumulated on the first day got the better of me and I overslept >_<

Still, I did manage to squeeze through the crowds and wandered around the exhibits.
The booth that I really liked was the Hot Toys booth with their predators, Ironmans, Batmans and what not.
If I had more disposable income on me, I would definitely get some of them Hot Toys and start making dioramas and shoot them.
They are like super posable awesome figures and how can you not want to take pictures of Ironman?

Unlike the past years of STGCC, the emphasis of eastern pop-culture, anime and manga which I am more famliar with, wasn’t that strong. But this year the organisers brought in Kipi, Itou Shizuka and the dashing illustrator, Kishida Mel. There was even a Kotobukiya booth.

I think read some of the netizen’s comments regarding STGCC and how they give so much excuses and bad comments about it is the misplaced expectations they have regarding the event. STGCC isn’t AFA so the comparison is invalid. Although majority of the events at STGCC aren’t to my acquired tastes, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the panels which I attended. Being tired at the end of the day and spending time with fellow comrades can ever go wrong ^^;;

I met some new comrades too, though not as many as I wanted to!
Glad I am burning though my namecards!
Hope to clear it by the end of AFA11 so that I’ve an excuse to bring out a new stack.

I’ve less than a 100 left. I think that somehow the cards are too small.
People whom I meet and offer the cards always seem to want to take more than one.
Kipi took 6, initially she wanted all 13 that I had on me ^^;;

There aren’t any more huge events like this in next month,
which gives me time to fix and touch-up Dollfie Mami before AFA11.

Still desperately searching for a wig, was quite embarrassed to actually bring her around because her wig was just a placeholder and it looked like a mop ^^;

And the rest of the guns, hopefully I’ll get them done by the end of this month so that I can keep all the power-tools lying around

And I actually bought a new nendoroid at STGCC, she was pretty cheap and I needed a new nendoroid.
I’ve always had difficulty finding a suitable nendoroid that I could cast as a ‘princess’
Last year I published a few stories with alafista’s Feena.

But I realised that I needed one for myself so I can make my little random stories.
So with my princess nendoroid that I’ve gotten now I can make a new genre of story!
Just need my ‘prince’. No idea who to use!

Can’t wait to see what STGCC will bring in 2012!

For now, lets just recharge for AFA11!
